New Year, means new trends! Some that had to go are finally going, while others are sadly leaving as well. Contouring had a huge moment in 2015 remember clown contouring and henna contouring? I got to admit I do like a bold contour, of course when blended right! But its now out the door, 2016 is going in a new direction by going au natural. Subtle Contouring is going to be the new thing for 2016! Skip clown contouring this year and instead, “spot treat” your face by choosing one area to contour like your cheekbones, jawline, or nose rather than all three, so you look more naturally contoured.
First up Smoky Eyes, smoky eyes aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Which I’m so happy to hear as smoky eyes are a fun glam look to play around with, and can create many different eye looks with different colours and shades. Cat eyes and staying as well, but they are taking a more subtle approach this coming year.
Glittery Lids will now be all the talk. Adding a little glitter to your lids seems to be the way to amp up your makeup look in 2016! This look I can see taking off! I look forward to this trend as adding a little glitter to a eye look can always be fun however, it can also look a little cray if not applied properly! With that being said I am definitely looking forward to to new products that makeup brands will be coming out with, that incorporate glitter. Now glossy lids I am not a fan of.. at least yet. Trends seem to always grow on me after a while! So I guess I will see!
Brows will still be all the talk in 2016 as well! However it will now be all about brushed-up brows. As the “Pinterest Brow” is taking a backseat in 2016, making room for easier going arches that are effortlessly brushed-up and feathery, creating less time and product to be spent on the brows. I’m not so sure how I feel about this trend yet, as I like bold filled in brows that look put together!
The bold lips will still be a trend and for 2016, the lip talk will be all about having bold, beautiful lips. Bring in neutral and classic shades like crimson, pinks, deep burgundies, and gorgeous nudes are rising to the top this year, pushing crazy lipstick shades like cobalt blue to the sideline. 2016 is going to be about having natural lined pouts. Which means we can prepare to kiss the Kylie Lip Challenge goodbye in 2016, because it’s all about embracing what you’ve got! Which will be a good change, I believe after all the horrible videos of people trying the Kylie Jenner Lip challenge, it will be nice to embrace what you have!
2016 will also be all about the Glow! Achieving a healthy
glow that gives your skin a sheen, rather than a bright spotlight on your skin. A tip I read on Pinterest that actually works is to pat a little clear lip gloss on the high points of your cheekbones, the bridge of your nose, and your eyelids for an instant glow.
Now for the cheeks is going to be all about having pink cheeks. 2016 is going to be about looking instantly fresh faced, like you got 12 hours of sleep. The trick the achieve this, since we all want to look radiant.. am I right? Apply the blush on your cheekbones and blend it up to the hollows of your cheeks to mimic where little kids naturally get pink in the face.
