Stila Maya Color Balm Lipstick is a pretty nude shade of warm terracotta with elements of dusky peach. I’d say Stila’s Color Balm Lipstick formula is most comparable to Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in terms of texture, pigment, and formula. Stila’s formula is a hint creamier but all in all they are very similarly formulated.
The hybrid formula is a lightweight, hydrating balm with a lipstick-like texture and pigment. It’s a very creamy formula with a highly pigmented colour pay off that’s quite opaque on a single pass. They have a peppermint taste and fragrance that’s very pleasant to my nose and mouth. I find the colour glides on super easily without tugging. The satin finish has a slight sheen to it and I find the texture very wearable and comfortable without being highly hydrating but providing enough moisture that my drier lips enjoy. Wear time is about four hours and in that time I have no issues with the balm migrating or feathering.
I adore Gabriella ! It’s a great nude and natural shade and since I’m really embracing the naked look for Summer this is a good shade to do so with!
Colour Balm Lipstick goes on like a dream. It glides on easily and you get rich, full color in just one coat. The finish is creamy, light, and comfortable, with a good amount of shine, and it comes in a wide variety of shades.
This lipstick contains two known irritants: peppermint oil and menthoxypropanediol (a synthetic derivative of menthol that research has shown is twice as strong as the original form). In fact, the first thing you notice when you uncap this lipstick is the smell of mint, and upon application you instantly feel the lips tingle, and tingling is a clear sign of irritation.
Stila claims it included these ingredients to “both soothe and stimulate irritated lips.” If there is any research showing that to be true, we can’t find it—and Stila doesn’t cite their source. These ingredients aren’t soothing and can cause irritation, so steer clear of this one, and check out our list of Best Lipsticks for options that won’t hurt your poor pout!
PROS:
- Creamy, comfortable formula.
- Rich color in one coat.
CONS:
- Contains irritants peppermint oil and menthoxypropanediol.
- Strong peppermint scent.( That some people may not like, however I LOVE!! )
Have you lovelies tried the Stila Lip Balm (Lipsticks)?!
Love the ingredient breakdown here! It’s so easy to trust in brands using fancy terms and ingredients without paying attention to how helpful or harmful they actually might be in reality!
